Visions Design TN · East Tennessee
Visions Design TN reveals the extraordinary environment already present in your land — through bioregenerative design, precision craft, and a philosophy rooted in the intelligence of the earth itself.
Philosophy
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."
— R. Buckminster Fuller
Fuller
"Do more and more with less and less until eventually you can do everything with nothing."
Wright
"No house should ever be on a hill. It should be of the hill. Belonging to it."
Buckminster Fuller believed that the highest function of intelligent design was to do more with less — to solve problems so elegantly that the problems themselves become irrelevant. Not patched. Not postponed. Dissolved. We carry that conviction into every site we touch.
Every site holds potential waiting to be realized. Not imposed upon. Not decorated. Realized. Designed with ecological and architectural intelligence, a site does not merely look beautiful — it performs, it regenerates, it deepens its connection to the land with every passing season. And so do the lives lived within it.
We call this bioregenerative design — the integration of living systems thinking with the precision of high-craft architecture and landscape. Not a trend. Not a borrowed methodology. A design philosophy that produces only permanent solutions.
Fuller called it doing more with less. Wright called it organic architecture. We call it bioregenerative design. The conviction is the same: intelligent design does not fight what already exists. It reveals what was always possible.
Every site we touch is our answer to that challenge. Not imposed beauty. Not corrected land. A new model — drawn from the intelligence already present in the terrain, and the vision of those who will inhabit it.
What We Practice
Bioregenerative design means designing sites as living systems — environments that actively restore ecological function while delivering the beauty, utility, and luxury performance that discerning clients expect. Not in spite of each other. All at once.
In practice this means planting strategies that build soil health over time. Drainage and grading that works with hydrology rather than against it. Outdoor living environments that age with dignity rather than retreating into neglect. Material choices that belong to the land — not merely placed upon it.
The result is a site that demands less, holds more, and becomes more extraordinary with every passing season.

About the Founder
Jason Murrell founded Visions Design TN after studying architecture at the University of Tennessee and accumulating more than two decades of hands-on experience across luxury home and landscape design, installation, site planning, and project management.
That combination is rare. Rigorous architectural training. Deep material knowledge. The practical intelligence that only comes from building things yourself. Most firms offer one or the other. Visions Design TN offers all three.
Jason designs for the terrain he knows best — the complex, dramatic, unforgiving landscape of East Tennessee. Lakefront properties across Jefferson, Knox, Roane, Rhea, and surrounding counties. Land that rewards precision and punishes mediocrity. He has spent two decades learning exactly what it demands.
The topography of East Tennessee is rarely forgiving. Steep limestone grades. Hardwood hollows. Lakefront exposures that shift with every season. Soils that reward patience and punish shortcuts. Every site here is a design problem with no generic solution — and no room for designers who rely on them.
Difficult terrain is not a liability. It is the raw material of extraordinary design.
What We Offer
Each engagement begins with the site and the vision behind it.
01
A complete site master plan — architecture, landscape, grading, drainage, planting, and outdoor living unified into a single cohesive vision.
You already know your property is extraordinary. What it needs is a single vision — one that sees the whole site at once and designs every element in relationship to everything else. Not a landscape here. Not a hardscape there. Not a structure that doesn't quite connect to either. A whole site, conceived as one thing, built to last.
What It Produces
Full architectural set, graded site plan, landscape design, hardscape layouts, planting plan, drainage strategy, outdoor living programming, and photo-realistic renderings.
02
Design-led planting, hardscape, and outdoor environments — conceived with architectural precision and installed to the same standard.
You have invested in your home with intention. The land around it should reflect that same standard — and yet something is often missing. No sense that it was conceived. No feeling that it belongs. If you have stood on your property and believed it deserved more than what it received — this is the work we do.
What It Produces
A fully installed landscape — planting, hardscape, grading, drainage, lighting coordination — backed by complete design drawings and photo-realistic renderings. No surprises. No compromises.
03
Pro-grade CAD site modeling and photo-realistic visualizations — so clients and builders see the completed project before construction begins.
Architects, builders, and property owners who need to see a site in three dimensions before committing to a design direction. Clients presenting to investors, HOAs, or family stakeholders who need to communicate a vision clearly.
What It Produces
Full 3D site models, photo-realistic rendered walkthroughs, and design documentation ready for contractor bidding or permitting.
04
Single-source luxury design and construction — one team, one vision, no translation loss between designer and builder.
Clients undertaking significant site development — new builds, major renovations, complex outdoor environments — who want design integrity maintained through every phase of construction. No hand-off. No compromise.
What It Produces
A complete built environment — designed, permitted, and constructed by the same team that conceived it. Currently available in select East Tennessee markets. Expanding nationally through Visions Development Group.
We accept a limited number of new projects each year. If your property deserves more than ordinary thinking, we would like to hear from you.

Every project begins with a site. Every site has a story. These are some of ours.
Douglas Lake · East Tennessee
A steep lakefront estate transformed — 120 feet of grade, six outdoor living environments, a property that finally works the way it always should have.
East Tennessee
A competition entry for the home of the future — a 3D-printed circular residence where architecture, ecology, water, and food production function as one living system.
Watts Bar Lake · East Tennessee
A three-level estate conceived for a private gated community — grown from the hillside rather than placed upon it. The estate that anchors a vision for how luxury and land belong together.
Douglas Lake · East Tennessee
Nearly four acres of mature East Tennessee woodland. A main residence and guest house designed to draw family back from across the country — floor to ceiling glass, forest on every side.
Knoxville · East Tennessee
A Knoxville estate where the interior had been speaking Greek and Roman for years. The landscape finally learned the same language — in basalt, travertine, classical statuary, and plant.
Douglas Lake · East Tennessee
An 88-foot fall over 260 feet of shoreline run. The slope itself became the design. From natural stone entry to rooftop garden to lakeside pavilion — the first Visions Design TN project scheduled for construction.
